Work has started by the European Economic and Social Committee on an Opinion on hypersensitivity.
Note: in the end, the Committee adopted a rather different Opinion – see an update
Hypersensitivity (also know by other names – electrical hypersensitivity, idiopathic environmental intolerance) is when some people experience a range of symptoms such as headaches, nausea, sleeplessness, etc, and attribute these symptoms to exposure to EMFs (usually radiofrequency EMFs but sometimes power-frequency as well). But various review bodies have concluded that the symptoms seem to be linked to the perception of exposure, and this is a controversial area.
The European Economic and Social Committee held a workshop on 4 November and are working towards an Opinion in January 2015.
